This wiki is to help people from start (forming a friend's group) to finish (advocacy and fundraising). It is based on the collected knowledge and experience of library professionals and their supporters. No library exists without the support of the community it serves, but sometimes it needs a little help from time to time to carry out its mission.
Why this is here:
2009 was a devastating year for libraries around the country. As funding was cut at the state, county, and municipal levels, libraries were forced to cut back their services or hours, lay off staff members, or even close their doors. The outlook for 2010 is not much better. This wiki is here to help libraries of all sizes garner and utilize the inherent support that exists in their communities. There is no better time than now to tap into our grassroots.
